eAssignment

eAssignment is an Eclipse extension developed to ease the exchange of assignments between students and lecturer. Students can download and import assignments into the Eclipse workspace and start immediately working on the assignment. No error-prone and time-consuming  manual download, extraction and configuration of the project is required. Also, exporting your submission is done by simply publishing your assignment back onto the server by one click. The eAssignment plugins can be installed using the following update site:

http://cage.st.informatik.tu-darmstadt.de/eassignment/updates/

A short screencast showing how to isntall eAssignment and how to configure and use eAssignment the first time is available here.

System Requirements:

 Java 6 and Eclipse 3.3.1.

eAssignment in RBG Pool available

eAssignment has been installed on the machines of the RBG Pool. To use eAssignment in the pool you have to configure eA as described here in the second part of the video (configuration).

'Eclipse & eA'-Bundle for Win32 available

A prepackaged bundle of Eclipse 3.3.1-SDK with eAssignment is available here. Note: Windows has a maximum path length constraint of 255 characters. Unzip the archive to directly to C:/  or any other (short) path. If you unzip the file to the desktop you will get exceptions during extraction and Eclipse will not work.

In the case of Problems

In the case of problems create a post at the forum of your lecture (SE-Design or EiSE) which contains:

  1. a detailed problem description and
  2. the output of the eclipse configuration details window (Menu->Help->About Eclipse SDK -> Configuration Details) and
  3. the stack traces from the Eclipse Error Log and
  4. give a suggestion/explanation which steps may have caused this error.
Please also ensure that Eclipse is started with java 6 --- check the output of the configuration details window for entries starting with java.
