ECOOP /
Guidelines for Poster Proposals
Posters will be
selected based on quality and relevance, subject to available space.
What should a poster proposal include? All poster proposals should
include:
- Information entered directly online:
- Poster title. Select an expressive and attractive title for the
poster.
- The name of the presenter(s). Give the full name and the
affiliation of the presenter. Please specify the electronic mail address as
well. If there are multiple presenters, give this information for all of
them and specify who the contact person is.
- Abstract. Write a brief description (up to 500 words) of the
presented material so that its technical merit, novelty and relevance to
object-oriented technology can be assessed.
- References. Please provide information for further reading
(e.g., an optional URL).
- A PDF or PostScript file including a preliminary graphic layout of the poster to
be exposed.
The information provided online will be included in the ECOOP 2003 pages after the
notification of acceptance.
What should a poster look like?Posters will be evaluated both on their
technical contributions and on how effectively they communicate those
contributions.
- Poster size. The board size holding the poster is 120cm (high) by 180cm (wide)
landscape format.
- Body of poster. The body of the poster should state the purpose
and goals of the work and any background and motivation information needed to
understand the work. Please also describe any critical hypotheses and
assumptions that underlie the work, if appropriate. A summary of the technical
contribution and/or results, in sufficient detail for a viewer to understand
the work. The relationship to other related efforts, where appropriate. Where
to find additional information. Be sure to summarize and highlight the key
details, results and contributions, or the anticipated contributions if the
work is at an early stage. Please remember that a picture is worth a thousand
words. If you can express your contributions effectively visually, it will
help viewers to understand the work quickly and will attract more attention to
your work. Please ensure that the fonts are large enough to be read
comfortably.
Poster presenters are required to include the following
items in their posters:
- Time table. An informal schedule listing times when the authors
plan to be available for discussion later on during the conference.
- Message board. A space to be used as a "message board," on which
viewers can post comments, ideas, and questions and on which poster authors
can post responses, to further increase interactions and value for everyone.
For additional questions or clarification, or for your suggestions, please
feel free to contact the Posters
and Demonstrations Co-Chair.
