ECOOP /
Workshop 09
Resource-Aware Computing
Abstract
The ECOOP Workshop on Mobile Object Systems is already in its 9th Year.
The aim of the workshop series is to bring together system and language
designers, and generally people interested in discussing the current state
and future direction of research in the area of object systems, mobility
and other emerging aspects of object-oriented systems. The workshop is
a forum to discuss and exchange ideas concerning ongoing theoretical and
implementation work.
The theme of this year's workshop is resource-aware computing. As the
object-oriented and mobility paradigms are increasingly applied to multi-user,
cluster and application server environments, the ability to measure and
control resource consumption is crucial. Related issues include resource
accountability, resource trading, performance, and security.
This workshop combines with last year's ECOOP Workshop on Resource Control.
The program committee chosen are well-known experts in the domain of object-oriented
programming from industry and academia. Participants will be invited to
submit position statements on resource-awareness, and to present these
at the workshop. Our (ambitious) aim for the workshop is to define a charter
of research and development points for resource-aware computing.
